Abstract

1318252 Valves ESSO PRODUCTION RESEARCH CO 21 Aug 1970 [4 Sept 1969] 40417/70 Heading F2V Apparatus for mounting underwater equipment such as a gate valve includes a receptacle 10 having a four-sided chamber defined by two parallel and two converging walls, and a body 25 received in the chamber and secured to the receptacle by bayonet ring 41 co-operating with tapered lugs 22. Flow through aligned passages 17, 18, 31, 32 is controlled by gate 56 co-operable with seats 57, 58, the gate being moved by stem 55 extending through housing 50, attached to body 25, to rotary nut 60. Seal rings 70a, 70b, 71a, 71b are provided on the converging walls of the body 25 and leakage is detected at 75. The parallel walls of the body 25 have elongate ribs (35, 36) engaged in grooves (23, 24) in the parallel walls of the receptacle chamber. The bayonet ring 41 may be replaced by a threaded ring or clamps. Assembly can be effected by a diver or under remote control. The apparatus may also be used to mount diverters, chokes, pig inserters, actuators etc.
