Abstract

1317643 Microwave multiplexers TAVKOZLESI KUTATO INTEZET 2 July 1970 [5 July 1969] 32236/70 Heading H1W A microwave multiplexer comprises a number (N) of filters 2 consisting of coupled cavity resonators interconnected by a principal cavity resonator 7 to which are additionally attached a number (N-1) of subsidiary cavity resonators 8 and a transmission line section 19, characterized in that the subsidiary cavity resonators are resonant at frequencies intermediate the frequency bands of the microwave signals to be segregated or summoned. In the multiplexer as shown attached to a rectangular waveguide the bandpass filters 2 of mid-band frequencies f 1 and f 2 are coupled to the principal cavity resonator 7 by apertures 9 tuned by dielectric rods 23 and the subsidiary cavity resonator 8 is coupled by an aperture 10 tuned by dielectric plunger 13 in an iris sheet 24. The principal cavity resonator 7 is common to the coupled cavities of each filter and it is stated that by coupling subsidiary cavities of frequencies intermediate the midband frequencies of the filters (i.e. f 1 < f < f 2 ) the principal cavity 7 exhibits resonances near said mid-band frequencies which can be adjusted by appropriate dimensioning of apertures 9 and 10. Fine and coarse tuning of the principal and subsidiary cavity resonators are effected by the dielectric plungers 12, 14 and the respective oppositely disposed metal plungers 15. The subsidiary cavity resonator 8 is closed at one end by a combination of an iris sheet 17 and a metal end plate 16 and the transmission line 19 is connected to the principal cavity resonator 7 through the coupling aperture 11 in iris sheet 25 tuned by a dielectric plunger 18.
