Abstract

131,755. Bailey, F., and Jackson, F. H. Sept. 12, 1918. Rotary strainers.-In a strainer of the type described in Specification 3149/03 and comprising a closed chamber, divided into two compartments, and a disk rotating in the chamber, cleansed by a return flow of liquid through the second compartment, the major portion of the disk is utilized for straining and the cleansing operation is effected by a comparatively small quantity of water passing through a comparatively small portion of the strainer. Each of the partitions G, which separate the compartments, can be adjusted angularly, to vary the relative sizes of the compartments, by means of a rack G<1> and pinion G<2> with handle G<3>. Bolts G<4> provide for axial adjustment of the partitions. Adjustable packing is placed between the back of each partition and the casing, and also between the rim of the strainer wheel and the casing. The water for cleansing mav be drawn directly from the delivery side of the straining compartment. Specification 5776/08 also is referred to.
