Abstract

1317529 Turbine stator blades WESTING- HOUSE ELECTRIC CORP 8 Nov 1971 [11 Jan 1971] 51734/71 Heading F1T Axial flow gas turbine stator blades 26 are held in position by engagement of lugs 48 on the outer shroud 28 of each blade with generally axially extending grooves 44, 46 in arcuate blocks 32 secured to a stator ring 18 by bolts 34. Additional location is provided for each block 32 by a pin 38. The blades 26 are prevented from moving out of grooves 44, 46 in the downstream direction by spacer ring 66 and in the upstream direction solely by gas pressure. Gaps 49 are formed in the lugs 48 to reduce heat conduction. A hole 50 is provided in each block 32 to permit flow of cooling air through an opening 56 in cover 54 to the hollow interior of the associated blade 26, the air exhausting from the latter through trailing edge openings 60. A small cooling air leakage past flange 64 of opening 56 is permitted. A portion 68 on each shroud 28 overlaps a corresponding portion on the adjacent shroud.
