Abstract

1317366 Lock nuts W ENGELMANN 28 May 1971 [12 June 1970] 17982/71 Heading F2H A locknut 1 to be secured to a bolt 13 is provided with a built-in locking washer 4 which has a continuously internal boundary defined by at least two straight edges constituting a polygon or other symmetrical configuration, the locking washer 4 being deformed by the bolt 13 when threaded into the nut 1. The locking washer 4 which is made of resilient material is held in a recess 3 at one end of the nut by one or more bent-over flanges 5. The continuous internal boundary may be in the shape of a square, a hexagon, an equilateral triangle having rounded corners or a generally rectangular figure having its shorter sides outwardly arcuate (Fig. 8, not shown).
