1317207 Selective printing CROSFIELD BUSINESS MACHINES Ltd 28 July 1971 [19 Aug 1970] 39967/70 Heading B6F A printer includes a stylus 10 which is displaced within the writing plane to trace characters by members 14, 16 formed of material which is dimensionally responsive to electric signals Vx, Vy applied thereto. The members 14, 16 may be bimorph elements which bend in response to the electrical signals, and may be formed of lead zirconate titanate. Alternatively magnetostrictive elements may be employed. A solenoid may be provided to lift the stylus from the writing plane.
