Abstract

Cylinders and valve-chests, cooling.-In order to avoid stagnation and the deposit of sediment in the cylinder jacket, auxiliary high-pressure jets j are used in addition to the ordinary circulating system. The jets deliver opposite openings c<1> leading to jackets encasing the valve-boxes d, e, and the exhaust pipe, an outlet being provided at f<1>. The high-pressure pump h may be on the same shaft as the low-pressure pump g which delivers to the top of the jacket, the outlet being at the bottom by two opposed pipes leading to a common pipe k. A settling tank may be used.
