Abstract

1316013 Stitch bonded fabric; knitting machines COSMOPOLITAN TEXTILE CO Ltd 30 June 1971 30616/71 Addition to 1268630 Headings D1C D1K and DIR Specification 1,268,630 describes apparatus for producing a chain stitched non-woven fabric in which a loop of fibres is formed from the fabric and pulled through under each thread loop. That apparatus (Fig. 1, not shown) is now modified to allow tricot stitching in which thread from each row of stitches crosses over to the adjacent row. In the end elevation shown each pin 21' in the row is cranked in order that when hooks 14 on needles 11 receive threads 29 from thread guides 26 situated one unit to one side, the threads are not permanently fouled by the apparatus. The threads slide towards the tips of pins 21' as needles 11 withdraw to the left, then slide off the ends of the pins as the fabric moves downwards prior to the next insertion of the needles.
