Abstract

A prefabricated building has walls made up from units 1 which are overlapped (as shown), interengaged, or merely abutted along their adjacent vertical edges, each unit having a ground plate 6 extending along its base, and apertured base fixing plates 8 projecting outwardly therefrom. Each unit preferably has a metal framework, with horizontal angles 5 and vertical sideposts 2 with welded-on angles 10, to which wooden posts 11 are bolted, the body of the unit being a concrete slab 14 reinforced by a reinforcement grid (not shown), which may be fixed to the side posts, and which supports the ground plate 6. Lugs 12 are provided to support the internal framing members, e.g. at floor and roof levels, to provide means for connecting adjacent units together, and for supporting the staircase. The units have, e.g. window apertures therein, and, if appropriate, slots 140 (Fig. 6) for supporting an entrance lobby roof in the area AEFC, and an aperture for the staircase (unit AB).
