Abstract

1315743 Photo-copying apparatus AUDAC CORP 7 June 1971 19280/71 Headings G2A and G2H [Also in Division C4] Apparatus for imaging a document 21 on to a frame of a microfiche 42 includes a U.V. light source 24, a mirror 26, a lens unit 28 and a film positioner 31. A second light source (32), Figs. 2- 4 (not shown), of e. g. visible radiation, is used to make a full-sized copy of a microfiche frame, in which case, Fig. 4, the mirror 28 is moved to direct the light from the frame onto an electrostatic copying assembly 14. A particular microfiche frame may be projected onto a screen (40), Fig.3 (not shown), or the whole microfiche 42 may be so projected, by positioning a second lens 110 on the optical axis 102. If a non- permanent micro-image of a document is required a photo-chromic film 30, carried in a sub-frame 62a of the positioner 31, is exposed using U.V. light, and is then used to make a full-signed copy in the assembly 14 as described above. The image on the photo-chromic film may be inspected for possible exposure corrections, prior to making the full sized copy. A heater 114, which may be swung into position over whichever frame is on the lens axis 102, is used to erase the image formed on the photo-chromic film 30 or to fix the image formed on a micro-fiche frame. After fixing the microfiche can be withdrawn through slot 44 for storage. In another embodiment, Figs. 7-10 (not shown), temporary and permanent xerographic storage media are used. A modified film positioner (200) is so shiftable that in one end position (exposure position) the selected microfiche frame is held by suction against an exposure platen (261). At the other end position changing, toning and fusing by heating of the appropriate frame are carried out. The temporary storage medium is provided in a film cassette (254).
