Abstract

1315314 Extruding LOEWY ROBERTSON ENG CO Ltd 3 Sept 1970 [3 Oct 1969] 48803/69 Heading B3P An extrusion press having a die changing device similar to that described in Specification 1,188,677, has a hydraulic jack 100 for supporting the die or die assembly 30 out of engagement of the carriage 52 to enable the die or die assembly 30 to be repositioned on the carriage 52. After the die assembly 30 has been transferred from the extrusion press by the transversely movable slide (14) (Fig. 1, not shown) on to one end of the carriage 52, it is raised above the carriage by the jack 100 which extends through a slot 55 in the carriage 52. Subsequently, the carriage 52 is moved to the left and the die assembly 30 lowered by the jack 100 on to the other end of the carriage 52 so that when the carriage is moved back to its initial position the die assembly 30 is enclosed in the heating chamber 82. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,188,677.
