Abstract

1314151 Drum machine for treating textiles BRUCKNER-APPARATEBAU MICHELSTADT GmbH 14 Jan 1971 [20 Jan 1970] 1853/ 71 Heading D1L A device for treating flat textile structures comprises a fixed housing enclosing a rotatable perforated drum having means for providing fluid inlet and outlet to the drum interior; the construction of the drum being such that (a) its effective length is at least as great as its diameter and at least equal to the maximum width of the fabric to be treated, (b) there is at least one rib extending radially from the inner face of the drum along between 20% and 50% of the diameter of the drum and (c) the holes for entry of the treatment medium are uniformly distributed over the whole length of the drum and (d) drive means for the drum. In the embodiment shown, textile material 2 is placed inside drum 3 and treatment medium is supplied via pipe 7 to spray tubes 5 and 6 and removed via conduit 9. The drum oscillates with pauses at each reversal of direction, each sweep covering between 180‹ and 360‹. Rib 4 helps to prevent entanglement of the material during this process.
