1313381 Fastener driving tools SWINGLINE Inc 24 July 1970 35911/70 Heading B4C In a pneumatically operated fastener driving tool, fasteners, e.g. nails, from a magazine 16 are advanced to a drive channel 26 (Fig. 8) by a feed pawl 30, in a manner similar to that described in Specification 1,239,623, along a feed track 47 defined in part by a door 32. A pair of spaced spring loaded feed control pawls 35 carried by the door permit forward movement of the fasteners within the feed track but block movement of the fasteners in the reverse direction. The door is pivotable to an open position by bias of spring 34 when a latch is moved from a door engaging position to permit loading of the tool prior to operation. A pivoted pawl 27 biased by spring 28 to the position illustrated in Fig. 8 prevents a fastener accidentally dropping from the drive channel prior to drive of the fastener. The magazine 16 comprises a cover member, a hollow stem 18 depending from the cover member, and a base member 19 having a hollow stem 20 which is slidable on the stem 18. A spring biased pivoted lever 22 includes a locking projection 23 which extends through an aperture in the stem 18 and coacts with one of the slots 21 in the stem 20 selected in dependence on the size of fasteners accommodated in the magazine. Movement of the lever 22 against bias of spring 24 will result in ejection of the base member 13 by a spring biased collar 39 which can move along the stem 18 within limit imposed by a pin-and-slot arrangement 43, 44.
