Abstract

1312963 Hydrogenation catalysts STAMICARBON NV 22 May 1970 [4 Oct 1969 (2)], 24996/70 Heading B1E [Also in Division C5] Copper- and nickel-containing catalysts are prepared by forming a surface layer of a nickel compound on a non-metallic support, depositing a copper compound on the thus-coated support and reducing the composite to form elemental copper bonded to the support through the nickel layer. Examples describe depositing successively hydrated nickel oxide and copper oxide on a silica support, calcining the product and reducing with hydrogen either when dry or wetted with soybean oil.
