Abstract

131,157. Dalziel, J., Crocker, F., and Conradi, C. G. Aug. 17, 1918. Vehicle fittings and attachments.-Relates to alining and bridging devices for the rails on vehicles and loading platforms where the loading and unloading of the vehicle is effected by a transferable wheeled load-carrying body. The invention is shown in the drawings as applied to a tender and tractor vehicle. The load-carrying body 18 runs on rails 6 on the tender 5 and on the tractor 1, the gap between the vehicles being bridged by telescopic bridging-rails 14 with socketed ends. The rails on the tender are alined with the tractor rails by being mounted on a frame 7 resting on rollers 8 and transversely adjustable by means of levers 10 and chain and pulley gearing 12. The frame 7 is kept in position by buffers 9 and may be angularly adjusted by moving one or both ends or may be bodily adjusted transversely to the vehicle as required. Both sets of rails may be alinable. The loadcarrying body is secured in position on the tractor by locking bolts 4. A winch 3 and hauling rope 19 are provided for effecting the transfer of the load-carrying body from one vehicle to the other.
