Abstract

1310962 Furniture joints M C PRESNICK 26 June 1970 31225/70 Heading A4H [Also in Division B8] An extended aluminium frame rail 19 for a collapsible container includes a first wall 21 having a wedge-shaped key 22 and a second wall 26 having a slot 31 of matable configuration with said key 22. A wall section for the collapsible container comprises a panel 17 supported and stiffened by a frame formed from four frame rails 19 and four corner connectors 40. The collapsible container is erected from a plurality of said wall sections, the edge joints being formed by mating the key 22 of one frame rail with a slot 31 of the frame rail of an adjacent wall section. A gasket 80 is disposed in the slot 31 to seal the formed container. The wall sections are locked together by toggle locking clamps 50 which comprise a pivotable operating lever 51 and a locking member 62 articulated thereto; the locking member 62 being engageable: the slot 31 of a frame rail. A keeper member 10 associated with each toggle locking clamp 50 and secured to a wall section is formed of spring steel and includes a pair of U-shaped spring clip members 74, hold the operating lever 51 and the locking member 62 beneath the periphery of the associated wall section as illustrated in Fig.2. The spring clip members 74 each include an aperture 77 through which a sealing wire 78 may be threaded after erection, filling and closing of the container. One or more of the wall sections is also provided with an expandable inner wall 83 formed from a sheet or closed bag of elastomeric material to form a closed chamber 81. Each chamber 81 is inflated through a valve 82.
