Abstract

1309638 Electrophotographic element ILFORD Ltd 15 May 1970 [16 May 1969] 25202/69 Heading H1K The disclosure of the Specification is very similar to that of Specification 1,244,942 but the claims relate to a transparent electrophotographic element comprising a transparent substrate which has been subbed or treated to receive a hydrophilic layer, an electroconductive layer comprising a water soluble homo or copolymer of formula wherein R 1 and R 2 are each H or alkyl, X is an anion and n is an integer, and a layer of a transparent photoconductor. The copolymer is formed with a minor amount of at least one ethylenically unsaturated monomer. In the embodiment the electroconductive layer is a copolymer of 3,5 - dimethylene N,N - diethyl piperidinium bromide with N-vinyl pyrrolidone. The copolymer may be cross-linked by methylene-bisacrylamide, but not sufficiently to inhibit water solubility.
