Abstract

1307708 Photographic apparatus EASTMAN KODAK CO 20 March 1970 [21 March 1969] 13592/70 Heading G2A Thermal processing apparatus, e.g. for heating web materials 21 such as photographic paper or film, has a rotatable drum the outer surface 11 of which is normally in face to face contact with the inner surface of a complementary shaped resilient shell 13 which has an axially extending opening 15 to allow the entry and exit of web material between the surfaces for processing, the shell being mounted so as to be wholly capable of flexing away from the outer surface of the drum whilst being held against rotation therewith. The drum is coated with material having a high coefficient of friction, e.g. silicone rubber, whilst the shell is coated internally with material having a low co-efficient of friction, e.g. PTFE. The ends of the shell are supported on rods 33 which are supported by biasing springs 31 from end plates 7. Compression springs 37 and links 23 support intermediate points of the shell.
