Abstract

1307468 Thiazolines FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER A 19 April 1971 [2 April 1970] 25407/71 Heading C2C [Also in Division A5] In Example 1, 2-(2-chlorophenylamino)-#<SP>2</SP>- thiazoline is prepared by reacting 2-tolylisothiocyanate with 2-aminoethanol and cyclizing the thiourea obtained. The corresponding compounds wherein "2-chloro" is replaced by "2-methyl", "2- trifluoromethyl", "2-bromo", "2,6 -dimethyl", "2-methoxy-6-methyl", "2-chloro-6-methyl" or "2,6-dimethoxy", or wherein "2-chlorophenyl" is replaced by "1-naphthyl", "tetrahydro-1- naphthyl", "2-ethoxy-1-naphthyl" or "1,3,5- trimethylpyrazol-4-yl" may be obtained by analogous methods. In Example 2, 2-(2,6-dichtorophenylamino) - d<SP>2</SP> - thiazoline is prepared by reacting 2,6-dichloroaniline with thiophosgene to obtain 2,6-dichlorophenyl-thiocarbamic acid chloride. This intermediate is then reacted with 2-aminoethanol to give N- (2,6- dichlorophenyl) - N<SP>1</SP> - 2 - hydroxyethyl - thiourea, which is cyclized to the specified thiazoline. - 2 - (2,6 - Dibromo - 4 - methylphenylamino) - #<SP>2</SP> - thiazoline may be obtained by an analogous method. In Example 3, 2-(2,6- xylylamino)-#<SP>2</SP>-thiazoline is prepared by reacting 2-chloro-ethylisothiocyanate with 2,6-xylidine and then cyclizing.
