1307427 Electric cables VEREINIGTE DRAHT-UND KABELWERKE AG 10 Nov 1970 [13 Nov 1969] 53424/70 Heading H1A A high-tension sodium core cable for laying in gas pressurized pipe 6 comprises a sodium core 1 surrounded by insulation 2 e.g. polyethylene, which in turn may be surrounded by an electrically conducting shield 3. A three-phase cable, as shown, consists of three such sodium core cables armoured by the flat wire 5, the space between them being filled with a fluffy or fibrous insulating material 4, e.g. glass wool. A gap 7 left in the steel pipe 6 is filled with a gas under pressure, for example, nitrogen at 15 atmospheres.
