Abstract

1307270 Electrophonic musical instruments CHICAGO MUSICAL INSTRUMENT CO 30 Nov 1970 [25 June 1970] 35230/71 Divided out of 1307269 Heading G5J An electrophonic musical instrument comprising a series of audio signal sources 12, voicing or formant circuits 13 and transducer 15 is provided with a unified D.C. keying circuit (matrix) 16 connected between the sources and voicing circuits under the control of key switches 11 and voice tab switches 17 and incorporating a percussion circuit 19 and detector 21 such that a single formant circuit is employed for continuous tones and for percussive-envelope tones. A repeat circuit 22 is also connected to the matrix and is controlled by repeat switches combined with the percussion switches 20 and control tabs 25. Presets 18 are provided to operate in lieu of or together with switches 17. Sustain keyers 23 under the control of tabs 24 are provided for each of key switches 11. With sustain keyers 23 closed, the switches 11 are in direct connection to the matrix 16 as indicated in Fig. 2 showing a portion of the instrument. Detailed descriptions of the circuits are included.
