1306102 Electrophoretic coating PPG INDUSTRIES Inc 30 Jan 1970 43930/72 Divided out of 1306101 Heading C7B [Also in Division C3] Electrically conductive substrates are coated by an electrophoretic method using a water dispensed composition in which the major resinous component is an ungelled reaction product of (I) an epoxy compound and (II) a boron ester substituted with at least one amino group. I may be an epoxy resin which contains oxyalkylene groups, e.g. of formula: [O (CH 2 -CHR) m ] n in which R is H or an alkyl radical: in preferred compounds, obtained by reacting a polyepoxide with a monohydric alcohol containing a polyoxyalkyline group, R is C 1-6 alkyl, n is 1 to 4 and M is 2-50. II may have the formula: in which x is: R 1 and R 2 are 4 or C 1-6 alkyl, R 3 and R 4 are divalent organic groups and R 5 and R 6 are residues obtained by removal of OH groups from Monohydric alcohols.
