Abstract

1305911 Radiation attenuation combs BECKMAN INSTRUMENTS Ltd 18 Sept 1970 [17 Oct 1969] 50995/69 Heading G2J An attenuation for use in spectrophometer comprises two apertured members 10, 11 which are mutually aligned and jointly movable by a rack and pinion and which are separately movable to vary the attenuation to provide for scale expansion when a comparator 36 indicates balance conditions between beams of light passing through the members 10, 11 and a sample cell 31. The rack and pinion normally moves both members 10, 11 and a solenoid is operated at balance conditions, to disengage one member from the other so that the rack and pinion drives only one member.
