Abstract

1305784 Spray carburetters NISSAN MOTOR CO Ltd 3 Feb 1970 [5 Feb 1969(2)] 5081/70 Heading F1B The variable choke carburetter 11 of a motor vehicle I.C. engine has the mixing chamber 12 connected to the intake manifold by a passage 21 which is controlled by a solenoid valve 22 to be open at least when the vehicle is decelerating from high speed. The valve 22 is operated by a solenoid assembly 23 which is energized when a switch 41, associated with a manual transmission 15, and a switch 43, associated with the clutch pedal 16, are closed. The switches 41 and 43 are closed when the transmission is in the highest or either of the higher two gears by co-operation of the switch movable member (49) or (61), Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown), with a recess (56) or recesses in a transmission rod (53) or a recess in the clutch pedal, respectively. The assembly 23 is connected to the battery 19 via the ignition switch 18. In another embodiment, Figs.5 and 6 (not shown), a pair of pressure operated switches (72, 73) connected in series are closed when an automatic transmission (15') is in the highest gear. In a further embodiment, Fig. 7 (not shown), a switch (95) is closed when the voltage supplied to a relay (93, 94) exceeds a predetermined value, the voltage supplied corresponding to vehicle speed. The valve 22 may be controlled by the intake manifold vacuum. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1140751.
