Abstract
1305667 Heat exchanger tubes PEERLESS OF AMERICA Inc 19 April 1971 [5 May 1970 2 Sept 1970] 24611/71 Heading F4S [Also in Division B3] A finned tubular heat exchange element 1 comprises a tubular body portion of rectangular cross-section having spaced apart, transverse fins 3 projecting outwardly therefrom. Each of the fins comprises an elongate base portion 4 having a plurality of finger-like projections 5 extending outwardly therefrom. The heat exchange element is produced from an externally ribbed tube whose ribs and underlying portions of the tube wall are suitably cut to form fins which are then bent outwardly to a position perpendicular to the tube surface; the portion B-C to the left of the fins may then be removed to leave a finned tubular element of the desired length. In a modified embodiment (Figs. 4-7, not shown) a series of partition walls (32) subdivide the tube interior into a plurality of side-by-side fluid passages; the finned element is bent to be of sinuous configuration.
