Abstract

1304450 I C engine fuel injectors; reciprocating pumps ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 27 Feb 1970 [28 Feb 1969] 9555/70 Headings F1A and F1B A fuel injector has a piston 12 movable by a solenoid operable drive 10 from a reference position a in a lifting movement for fuel flow into the cylinder 13 and in a pressure movement for injecting fuel. During the pressure movement the valve 19 is opened by the pressure developed in the cylinder 13 or by engagement between the valve rod portion 21 and the end of the piston cavity 22. The clearance e may be adjusted. The fuel may be fed to the inlet port 24 from a pump through a throttle. The duration of the lifting and pressure forces applied to the armature 14 to move the piston to the positions b and c may be controlled by an electronic device, actuated in accordance with engine operating conditions. A plurality of injectors may inject fuel into the immediate vicinity of the engine inlet valves.
