Abstract

1304347 Clamps R T FOGG 25 June 1970 [29 March 1969] 16591/69 Heading B4W A device for use in jointing a pair of picture or like frame members comprises a base 1 having two supports 3 which are cut away or positioned where they join to permit access to a frame joint, and means for urging members against the supports. The means are nylon join cleats 4 which are biased against stops 8 by springs each of which is wound around a pin 5 and have one end located in the base 1 whilst the other end presses against the side wall of a recess in the base of a cleat. Each cleat has edges 4a and 4b to cater for frame members of different thickness. The cleats may be changeable to allow for different thicknesses of frame or short cleats may be used in conjunction with extension pieces or packing elements. Means, e.g. a screw lock on the pivot, may be provided to lock each cleat in an operative position. Further, a saw guide may be incorporated or provided on the device to mitre the frame members. The plate, pin and support are made of plastics material.
