Abstract

1303986 Valves NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORP 29 Jan 1970 [29 Oct 1968] 51262/68 Heading F2V A fluid control valve comprises a pair of rollers 2, 3 trapped between two opposed wall portions of the valve housing 1 by a band of impervious material 4 which is wrapped around the rollers in an "S" configuration, the rollers being movable between two positions, one of which the band covers an aperture a, and the other in which aperture a is uncovered. The roller 7 is connected to an operating lever (5), (Fig. 1, not shown) which extends through a deformable seal in the housing 1. Slight angular movement of the lever (5) operates the valve. Two such valves may be coupled together to cover and uncover respective outlet apertures a in a mutual antiphase manner, to form a 3- port device. In this arrangement the inlets b are connected to a common source of fluid pressure and a dead-zone is provided in which both apertures, in one position of the valve, are closed. The band is preferably tensioned and made of a thin metal (e.g. stainless steel) or plastics strip. Copending Application No. 51264/68 is referred to.
