Abstract

1303238 Dental chairs KALTENBACH & VOIGT 30 Sept 1971 [29 Dec 1970] 45679/71 Heading A4J In a dental chair in which the inclination of the backrest frame 2 about a horizontal shaft 7 is adjusted by the operation of a hydraulic piston and cylinder unit 5 or an electric motor with a worm shaft, the rear end of the seat frame 1 is provided with an upwardly curved extension 11 having an arcuate rack 11a which is centred on the horizontal shaft, a pinion 10 mounted on the lower end of the backrest frame 2 meshing with the rack 11a and a further pinion (12) Fig.2 (not shown), which is mounted on the same shaft as pinion 10 meshing with a rack 13 on the backrest frame 2 such that during rearward and down - ward pivoting of the back rest frame its lower end approaches the rear end of the seat frame, and during forward and upward pivoting of the back-rest frame its lower end moves away from the rear end of the seat. The back-rest may be pivotally mounted for rotation about a horizontal axis on the backrest frame. A single piston and cylinder unit may be mounted centrally below the seat, the free end of the piston rod 8 being pivotally connected to a lever 3 arranged centrally of the backrest on the lower end thereof.
