Abstract

1302931 Urea ESSO RESEARCH & ENG CO 26 Jan 1970 [3 Feb 1969 30 Dec 1969] 3677/70 Heading C2C [Also in Divisions B2 and C1] Particles comprising urea or substituted ureas (i.e. agglomerative units of actual particles) are encapsulated by substantially water insoluble metal carbonates, e.g. of Ca or Mg by coating the particles with an oxide or hydroxide and carbonating the hydroxide or oxide in a CO 2 - containing atmosphere to produce sufficient carbonate in situ to prevent caking of the coated particles (see Divisions B2, C1). In the examples, the degree of carbonation of Ca(OH) 2 -coated urea ranges from 29-98% after 4 mins.
