Abstract

1302897 Travel cases, &c. ANTLER Ltd 13 April 1970 [15 April 1969] 19103/69 Heading B8P The top marginal portion 11 of the side walls of one shell of a travel case, trunk, &c. is disposed between the flanges 12, 21 of a reinforcing strip, with portion 11 and the flanges being inclined outwardly with respect to the remaining portion 16 of the side walls. The walls may be formed from a band which is inserted into the reinforcing strip. The flanges and portion 11 are then bent outwardly with the formation of rib 15, and the band and strip formed into a loop, with a hinge for the lid being secured to the abutting ends of the strip. Alternatively, the flanges may be bent and the rib formed before the insertion of the band. In another embodiment only flange 12 is pre-bent with portion 11 and the other flange 21 being only bent outwardly at the corners. The base is secured to the side walls by stitching. Alternatively, the base and side walls may be formed as a unitary structure with, optionally, portion 11 being bent outwardly as formed. The reinforcing strip has a channel portion 17 to receive the edge 18 of the other shell of the case.
