1302408 Record player KATSUMI WATANABE 5 Feb 1970 5463/70 Heading G5R In a record player for mounting in a toy and operated by an electric motor, increased pressure is applied to the pick up as it tracks inwardly of the record to maintain record speed constant. Turntable 21, supporting record 2, is belt driven by motor 1 and pivotably mounted on a base 20 which can be hinged downwardly to allow record change. The record is held by retaining member 25 and an extension 26 of the turntable pivot closes a pair of contacts 36, 37 in the motor supply circuit when the base is in its closed position. Pressure bar 3 is loosely mounted at its middle on the apex of speaker 10 and bears down at one end 4 on pick-up arm 5. At its other end 6 the bar is forced upwardly by spring 8 so that as the pick-up arm tracks inwardly the pressure exerted thereon by the arm which pivots at its point of attachment to the speaker, increases and the load on the motor drive stays approximately constant. When the pick-up arm reaches its inner position it moves contact 17 from fixed contact 18 and thus opens the motor drive circuit. To replay the record, rod 15 is manually depressed momentarily pivoting the bar 3 upwards out of contact with the pick-up arm which is spring loaded upwardly and outwardly; the movement of the arm to its start position allows contacts 17, 18 to re-engage to drive the motor.
