1301251 Analog/digital converters STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd 15 Jan 1971 2075/71 Heading G4H In an analogue to digital converter of the type in which the analogue input is converted to a pulse width modulated signal by comparing the input with a ramp signal derived by integrating a reference signal, the pulse width modulated signal controlling the application of pulses to a counter, the reference signal is derived either by averaging the input signal or by detecting peaks in the input. If the input is averaged the output of the comparator represents the ratio of the input signal to the average value of the input signal.
