Abstract

1299171 Heat shrinkage testing apparatus: Strain gauge TESTRITE Ltd 9 Jan 1970 [12 Oct 1968] 48464/68 Headings G1S, G1M [Also in Division D1] An apparatus for determining the shrinkage of yarns, filaments, wires or fabric strips e.g. tyre cord yarns, when heated, comprises two hot plates 34 and 36 having a gap therebetween to receive the test specimen 52, an anchorage spring clip 50 at one end and a shrinkage indicator 56, 58 and 60 at the other. A weight 62 is provided to maintain the specimen taut. The clip 50 and indicator device are mounted on a sliding carriage 14 having a handle 46 to allow specimen to be moved from outside to inside the gap. The hot plates may be heated by electricity, steam, gas, or oil and suitable controls are provided.
