Abstract

1298472 Screw-and-nut mechanism DAVY & UNITED ENG CO Ltd 25 June 1970 [18 July 1969] 36322/69 Heading F2Q [Also in Divisions G1 and G4] A position transducer (see Divisions G1 and G4) includes a "back driving" nut 17 and screw 21 arrangement for translating linear movement into rotational movement. Nut 17 is provided with a series of spaced ball-bearings 26 carried in a helical groove in the nut so that axial force results in relative rotation between the nut and screw. A deflector 28 fitted across each complete turn of the screw serves to guide the ballbearings during operation from the end of a turn to the start of the same turn to provide a recirculating path for the balls.
