Abstract
1298060 Toy guns N G PIGEON 23 July 1971 34710/71 Heading A6S A toy gun for firing stretchable missiles 18, Fig. 2, is made of plastics and has a slot 30, Fig. 1, extending along the top of the barrel to allow insertion of the missiles, one end, e.g. the knob 22, of each missile being inserted through the slot 30, Fig. 3, into a retainer 40 formed at the nozzle end of the barrel and having chambers 42 for the knobs, while the other knob 23 of each missile is engaged behind slots 48, 52, 53, Fig. 5, in a breach plate 45 (see also Fig. 1). A trigger 54 can rock about a pivot 56 so that its end 54B slides up the slot 48 to push a missile knob 23 up to a hole 49, through which it then passes so that the missile 22 is ejected. The knobs 23 at the ends of other missiles 18 lodged in the slots 52, 53, which act as magazines, can then be slidden into the slot 48, ready for firing. If several knobs 23 at the ends of missiles 18 are simultaneously in the slot 48, actuation of the trigger 54 gives a rapid fire effect. A safety catch in the form of a tapered plug (64), Fig. 6 (not shown), is inserted through a hole 66, Fig. 1, in the gun frame to prevent accidental rotation of the trigger 54. Another safety catch in the form of a plug 69, Fig. 5, can be removed from the storage position shown and placed in the hole 49 to prevent firing of the gun. Sights 32, 33, Figs. 3, 5, are provided on the muzzle and the breach. The butt 16, Fig. 1, of the gun is made from a number of parts 16A, B, &c detachably secured together to permit adjustment of its length.
