Abstract
1296796 Ice cream freezers C AMRHEIN 30 July 1971 [31 July 1970] 35841/71 Addition to 1251229 Heading F4H [Also in Division B1] Mixing apparatus for making ice cream, water ice and sherbet, intended to be placed in the freezing compartment of a refrigerator, comprises two or more (as shown in Fig. 1, compartments each with a stirrer (15) driven by a common motor 19; each stirrer is disengaged when the mix in the respective compartment reaches a pre-determined viscosity and is associated with a switch 61, see the switches being in parallel so that when the last stirrer disengages the motor stops. As shown the stirrer shaft 17 is driven through cooperating serrated members 52, 57 which override when the viscosity of the mix rises. Freezing the mix causes the stirrer shaft assembly including members 52, 57 to rise and lift blade 50, to open switch 61. In alternative arrangements the blade 59 may be a bi-stable spring removed to the "off" position by the axial movement of element 57 or over-ride, and returned manually to the closed position; or the switch 61 may be a finger switch. The mixing container may be divided into compartments by a movable partition (10).
