Abstract

1296647 Pneumatic conveyers F L SMIDTH & CO A/S 1 June 1971 18290/71 Heading B8A Granular or pulverant material in a hopper 1 is discharged therefrom through a diametrical, closed channel 3 sloping towards and having an increased cross-sectional area in the direction of a discharge opening 7 and a plurality of parallel side channels 4 sloping towards and in communication with the channel 3 and covered over part of their length adjacent the channel 3. The length of the covering 10 of the channels 4 may be different for adjacent channels to provide an even distribution of discharge and the channels increase in cross-section towards the channel 3. The air to fluidize the material is supplied through pipes (11), Fig. 3 (not shown), and may be sequential fed to individual channels 4 and excess air is withdrawn through ducts ( 12). A level sensor (27), Fig. 5 (not shown), situated in the channel (22) shuts off the air supply should the channel (22) become full. In an alternative embodiment, Fig. 4 (not shown), outlet (23) is disposed at the centre of the hopper and the channel (22) slopes downwards towards said outlet.
