1294946 Sawing L JAGERS 6 Oct 1970 [7 Oct 1969] 47473/70 Addition to 1279341 Heading B5L The cold saw described and claimed in the parent Specification is modified in that the front surfaces of the clamping strips 18a, 18b are coplanar and bridge the turntable 7 at right angles to the direction of movement of a clamping block 32, the feed path along which the sawblade axis is lowered for sawing a workpiece at right angles extends in front of the said front surfaces of the clamping strips, and an abutment part 28 is provided which comprises a pair of abutment strips 28a, 28b having coplanar abutment surfaces 28a<SP>1</SP>, 28b<SP>1</SP> and in their undersides a groove which receives the strips 18a, 18b so that the part 28 extends substantially to the upper surface of the turntable 7. As described, the part 28 is slidable longitudinally of the strips 18a, 18b and is secured in a selected position by a bolt 30. A member 28d connects the strips 28a, 28b and has a cutout 29 positioned above the cut-out 19d in the member 19 connecting the strips 18a, 18b, so that the saw can be used for mitre-cutting. Preferably, the surfaces 28a<SP>1</SP>, 28b<SP>1</SP> of the abutment part 28 lie midway between the abutment surfaces of the strips 18a, 18b and the axis 25 of the saw blade. A device for clamping a workpiece against the surfaces 28a<SP>1</SP>, 28b<SP>1</SP> is slidable in a groove 2 and includes a jaw 32 carrying a cross-slide 37 on which is mounted a further jaw 33. The jaw 33 may be located as shown in Fig. 1 for crosscutting or may be moved away from the jaw 32 to allow the saw blade to be rotated to a position for mitre cutting.
