Abstract

1293876 Driven brush bodies SUNBEAM CORP 14 May 1970 [14 May 1969] 23495/70 Heading A4K [Also in Divisions A5 and H2] An appliance for administering cosmetics to the skin comprises a detachable skin treating head 26 with bristles 30, a shank 88 and a handle 22 containing an electric motor, a battery power supply 38, and a pivoted drive lever 54 connecting the head to the motor. In use the motor rotates gear-member 52, consequently cam (52b) and follower (60a) impart a reciprocating motion on to lever 54 that is transmitted to the head 26 as an elliptical vibration. The bristled head 26 may be replaced by a massaging head (105) Fig.16 (not shown) comprising an elliptical frame (106) and a shank (107) identical to that on head 26. If so desired a container (108) in the head may be filled with water and frozen in a domestic refrigerator. This container (108) is covered by a smooth aluminium cap (110) that applies the vibrations to the patient's body. If a rechargeable battery is used, the appliance may be detachably mounted in a charging stand (24), Fig.13 (not shown). This contains a circuit (113) that induces a charging current into circuit (115) connected to the battery.
