Abstract

1293246 Ignition systems; fluid logic and switching circuits ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 25 Feb 1970 [26 Feb 1969] 9055/70 Headings F1B and F1P [Also in Division G4] In a system for controlling the ignition or fuel injection of an internal combustion engine, a rotating shaft carries a disc 10 with markers 12 and teeth. A sensor 11 detects the passage of the markers 12 and the teeth. One marker triggers monostable circuit 19, whose relaxation time is controlled by various engine parameters causing gate 17 to open and allow counter 15 to connect pulses from oscillator 18 in the forward direction. The other markers 12 causes bi-stable circuit 21 to trigger and open gate 14. The pulses generated by the teeth on disc 10 are shaped by unit 13 and counted in the downward direction by counter 15. When counter 15 records zero an output pulse is produced which controls the ignition or fuel injection, and switches bi-stable 21 so that gate 14 is closed. In this way the timing of the control pulse is determined by both engine parameters and the speed of shaft rotation. The device may operate electronically or by means of fluid logic. In a second embodiment, the markers 12, the bi-stable 21 and gate 14 are dispersed with.
