Abstract

1292724 Gas analysis HARTMANN & BRAUN A G 30 Sept 1970 [13 Oct 1969] 46436/70 Heading G1N The oxygen content of a gas is determined by the current required to be applied to a wire loop 6,7,7', Fig.1, to restore it and the non-magnetic balls 5,5' it surrounds to its equilibrium position, the structure being initially deflected due to the presence of gas containing oxygen and the balls 5, 5' being positioned in non-homogeneous magnetic fields. A single 12 or a pair 14 of a.c. energised coils, Fig.3, are inductively coupled to a pair of receiving coils 15 by way of the loop 6, the signal transmitted to coil 15 due to deflection of loop 6 being - applied to the loop via an amplifier 16, an inphase rectifier 17 and straps 8,8' supporting the loop 6, to thereby restore the equilibrium position of the loop. The current required to do this is then proportional to the oxygen content. (For Figures see next page)
