Abstract
1292122 Separating acid gases from a gas mixture VETROCOKE COKAPUANIA SpA and G GIAMMARCO 15 Oct 1969 [15 Oct 1968 19 April 1969] 50771/69 Heading C1A [Also in Division B1] A process for the absorptive elimination of acid gases, e.g. CO 2 , H 2 S, HCN, from a gaseous mixture comprises recycling the absorbent between an absorption tower A and a regenerating tower R where it is partially regenerated by external heat. The hot solution emerging from the regenerator is then further regenerated by extracting a vapour (together with previously undesorbed acid gases) either by (a) a reduction in pressure in an expansion chamber C or (b) intimately mixing with hot inert gases, Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown). The hot extracted vapour can then be vented to the atmosphere, Fig. 3 (not shown), or used to preheat the exhausted absorbent in vessel C<SP>1</SP> before its regeneration stage, or be mixed with partially regenerated absorbent tapped from an intermediate section of the column R, the mixture then being passed to the column R, Fig. 8 (not shown). The vapour may be extracted in several stages and passed to the exhausted absorbent in a corresponding number of stages, Fig. 7 (not shown).
