Abstract

1291797 Reciprocating pumps G SCHWARTZ & CO 22 July 1971 [5 Aug 1970] 34323/71 Heading F1A A pump for supplying lubricant to at least one greasing point on a rotating shaft 11, Fig.2, comprises a cylinder 20 mounted in a ring 14 fixed to the shaft 11, and a piston 23 spring-biased against a non-rotatable actuating ring 26 via a roller 25, actuating ring 26 being reciprocated by supplying pressure fluid, e.g. compressed air, to spring-loaded pistons 33 of variable stroke in a stationary ring 15 sealingly engaging ring 14. Lubricant from a reservoir 39, Fig. 4, is supplied to an annular chamber 27 defined between rings 14 and 15, and is drawn into pump cylinder 20 via port 28 and discharged via check valve 32, piston projection 30 entering cylinder portion 31 during the discharge stroke. The contents of reservoir 39 are pressurized by pressure plate 40 and by compressed air from line 47. Sensors 43, 44 indicate when the reservoir is full and empty, filling being effected via pipe 41. Stop valves 48 and a safety valve 49 are provided. In Fig. 4 two shafts 10, 11 have pumps with their outer rings 13, 15 connected by assembly 16 to 18.
