Abstract
1291362 Centrifugal strainer KRAUSSMAFFEI AB 18 Feb 1970 [14 March 1969] 7766/70 Heading B1D [Also in Division F4] A frusto-conical centrifuge drum 2 for separating solids from liquids e.g. for drying synthetic plastics granulates, similar to that shown in Specification No. 1,226,649, comprises spaced rings 3-8 having inner surfaces 10 not lying in alignment and having surfaces 12 which are either convex (as shown) or plane and perpendicular to the axis of the drum 2, wherein the granulate is introduced through an inlet pipe 1, moves from ring to ring discharging liquid between them, and issues from the top of the drum 2 in a dry condition. The rings 3-8 are produced by cutting from a sheet metal cone. In a modification, the drum bottom 9 is omitted so that granulate introduced for initial drying to a frusto-conical rotating sieve may be guided therefrom onto the lowermost ring of the drum 2. An intermediate cylinder connects the drive shaft with the drum 2. Grading may be effected by discharge of granulate between pairs of rings.
