Abstract
1290311 Substituted pyrazolidinones SOC D'EXPLOITATION DES LABORATOIRES BOTTU 29 Jan 1970 [29 Jan 1969 19 March 1969] 4440/70 Heading C2C Novel compounds of formula in which A represents a linear or branched alkylene radical containing 2 to 5 carbon atoms; R 1 and R 2 , which may be identical or different, each represent an alkyl radical containing 1 to 5 carbon atoms, or taken together may, with the nitrogen atom to which they are bonded, form a heterocyclic radical containing 5 to 7 ring atoms which ring also may contain a second hetero-atom which may be nitrogen or oxygen and may carry at least one substituent which may be an alkyl radical containing 1 to 5 carbon atoms or a hydroxyethyl radical; R 3 represents methyl or phenyl; R 4 represents n-butyl or phenyl; and R represents hydrogen, O-A-N(R 1 )R 2 , (A, R 1 and R 2 being as herein defined), hydroxyl, or -OR 5 , R 5 being a linear or branched alkyl radical containing 1 to 5 carbon atoms, and pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts thereof are prepared by reacting, in the presence of sodium hydride a compound of formula and a halide of formula Hal-A-N(R 1 )R 2 . 2,4 - Diphenyl - 1 - methylpyrazolidine - 3,5- dione is prepared by condensation of diethyl phenylmalonate and N-methyl-N<SP>1</SP>-phenylhydrazine. Pharmaceutical compositions having antiinflammatory and analgesic activity in conventional forms for oral administration comprise an above novel compound or salt and a carrier therefor.
