Abstract

1290116 Cutting tools PRECISION INDUSTRIES Inc 14 Jan 1971 1862/71 Headings B3K and B3T A form cutting tool comprises a body 10 with a recess 12 in which is locatable a cutting insert 14 which is clamped by a wedge member 21 engaging the insert and the end 62 of the recess and which is retainable by a screw 67. To effect location of the insert accurately in the recess, the insert abuts the base 30 of the recess and there is provided a pin 50 having a cylindrical portion which is a tight fit in the body and a segmental portion 54 the part cylindrical surface of which engages a corresponding surface 40 in the end wall of the recess 12. The insert is provided with a slot 35 the side walls of which are in line contact with the pin at diametrically opposite positions. The actuation of the clamping wedge, secures the insert in the body which is accurately laterally located by the pin 50.
