Abstract
1289210 Photo-electric frequency measurement LUMENITION Ltd 5 Nov 1970 52775/70 Addition to 1217743 Heading G1A [Also in Division G4] The parent Specification for measuring reciprocations, oscillations, rate of revolution or amount of revolution of a shaft carrying an opaque element between a light source and a photosensitive member is modified in that the output of the photo-sensitive member is fed to an amplifier. In the embodiment of Fig.1 (not shown) the output from the photo-transistor (18) is applied via a three stage amplifier (28, 30, 32) to a meter or counter as in the parent Specification. In the embodiment of Fig. 2 the photo-transistor is replaced by a Darlington pair 38, 40 connected via diodes 44, 46 and amplifier 28, 30 to a meter 58 to give a reading of the rate of rotation of the shaft. A Zener diode 26 is connected across the light source and photo-sensitive member to ensure a stabilized supply. The opaque element of the parent case may be replaced by an opaque disc having a V-shaped slit, Fig. 3 (not shown). Alternatively the disc may have a cut-out portion extending over 180 degrees, Fig.4 (not shown).
