Abstract
1289152 Papermaking machines BLACK CLAWSON CO 30 Oct 1969 [30 Oct 1968] 53318/69 Heading D2A Pulp is projected upwardly into a forming zone between two wires 16 and 17, held in converging relation, at a discharge velocity sufficiently higher than the speed of the wire to maintain an upward pressure head throughout the forming zone. This is effected by headbox 25 fed by pump 50, so that the discharge velocity is at least as great as the wire speed, and so that in the absence of the wires, the jet of stock would rise under gravity at least as high as the end of the forming zone, preferably higher. The convergence may be maintained by deflectors 40, which may also deflect white water into savealls 42, 43. Suction box 30 may be provided, the front edge of which is formed as a deflector, to draw the web onto wire 17, whence it is removed at suction pickup roll 31 onto felt 33.
