Abstract

1288206 Tubular lamps E F PRYTKOV 29 Sept 1970 46204/70 Heading H1F A tubular incandescent lamp comprises a single-spiral tungsten filament 4 supported by holders 5, 6 in a transparent glass envelope 1 wherein one of the holders 5 is supported and retained in a tube 11 welded to the envelope 1 of the lamp so that it will support the filament when the lamp is mounted with its longitudinal axis vertically. The holders 5, 6 are made of tungsten wire coils, some turns of these coils being of the same pitch and diameter as the filament coils and screwed on to the filament and other turns of these coils being of a much larger diameter to fit snugly against the inside surface of the lamp envelope. The holders 6 at the ends of the filament are welded to metal foil leads 3 sealed in the glass of the envelope and in contact with respective electrodes 7 in ceramic end caps 9. To allow the formation of a good electrical contact each electrode 7 is fused in a metal mass 8 within its end cap 9. The tube 11 may be welded integrally with the exhaust tube of the lamp.
